After a Battery Fire on Campus, Officials Weigh In With Battery Safety Tips

Ithaca, NY—A small battery pack had ignited on a student’s desk at Cornell University. A dry chemical fire extinguisher was used to put out the fire, and it was no longer burning when the Ithaca Fire Department arrived.
